1975 reggae album re-issued on 180 gram vinyl in its original cover.
One of Jamaica's most beloved vocalists who was as pertinent
in dancehalls as he was in bedrooms, Gregory Isaacs' career stretched over 30 years. From the heady
days of reggae through lovers rock, a genre he virtually invented, his talent
reached into the modern age.
1973 he started the African Museum shop and record label with singer Errol Dunkley and soon had a massive hit
with "My Only Lover", credited as the first lovers rock record ever made. To finance
the record label, Isaacs kept recording hits for many of Jamaica’s top
the late 1970s, he was one of the biggest reggae performers in the world,
regularly touring the US and the UK, and only challenged by Dennis Brown and Bob Marley.
1973 and 1976 alone, the singer released more material than most artists do in
a lifetime, virtually all of it timeless classics. Isaacs' early albums inevitably gathered up strings of these hits, while
usually also including a few new songs. Released in 1975, In Person features a heavy-hitting collection of successes for
producer Alvin Ranglin.
The re-issue of
In Person now available through Secret Records reggae subsidiary label, Sunspot
Records, as a 180 gram vinyl LP complete with
a double sided insert featuring track by track breakdown and biography.
